Kitchen-table meetings and careful reading

Chiamaka grew up translating letters from Social Security for her own grandmother, which is where she learned that most of elder law is reading the mail carefully. Her office is still on Water Street, where the firm began.

She does most of the firm’s Medicaid planning. Her first question is usually about the house, and her second about the spouse who’ll still be living in it. She writes every plan as a one-page list a son or daughter can follow.
