Questions
What sons and daughters ask before they call
If yours isn’t here, call the main number. A paralegal will answer or find a lawyer who can.
Should my parent come to the first meeting?
Yes, if they can. The documents are theirs, so we need to hear from them. If they can’t travel, we go to them.
Can you represent me and my parent at the same time?
For most planning, your parent is the client and you’re there to help. We explain this at the first meeting so everyone knows who we work for.
What does it cost?
Documents and planning are flat fees, quoted in writing at the first meeting. The first meeting has a set fee, quoted when you book, and it comes off the fee if you go ahead.
My parent lives in Waukesha County. Can you help?
Yes. We work in Milwaukee, Waukesha and Ozaukee counties, and we’ll tell you if a matter needs a lawyer elsewhere.
Do you write wills?
Yes, as part of a Medicaid or special needs plan. If you only need a simple will, we may point you to a firm that does them for less.
What if my parent and I disagree?
We talk with your parent alone for part of the meeting. Their wishes come first, as long as they understand them.
Can we do this by video?
Many meetings, yes. Signings happen in person so the witnesses and notary can see your parent sign.
Do you speak Spanish?
Xochitl does, at the Bay View office. Chiamaka speaks Igbo, and Ferdinand signs in ASL.
